A Gift I (try to) Give My Kids

Awhile back, I saw an episode of Oprah with Martha Beck that talked about the philosophy shared in this quote. There was a study done with a group of college students trying to discover where happiness comes from. They interviewed a bunch of 20 somethings and only one seemed happy. After a little more discussion, that one answered a question with, "My mother loves life." MY mother loves life and I recognized what a gift that had been given to me. I vowed that day to do the same for my kids. I wish I could say I was perfect at it 100% of the time, but I can't. But the more I'm happy, the less I complain, the more I relish in each moment, the more I adore nature...the happier my kids are.

For most of us, happiness is a choice. And, I KNOW happiness can be learned. It’s one of the best gifts you can give not just to your kids. Love life and spread happiness to your spouse, your neighbors, your friends and even strangers. Happiness is contagious! For my kids, my mantra is “I’m a happy mother who loves life and loves my kids!”
